Activist reportedly uses air horn against police looking into school threat unrelated to ICE

Public Interference in Law Enforcement Investigations

Agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and various law enforcement officials have encountered challenges from the public, particularly following the incident on January 7 that resulted in the death of Renee Good. She nearly struck an ICE officer with her vehicle during an immigration check.

In light of increasing unrest, it seems that certain groups are now broadening their focus beyond just ICE activities, potentially jeopardizing other police investigations.

Reportedly, a woman obstructed a police inquiry unrelated to immigration at the Brewer, Maine Police Department on Wednesday. This investigation regarded a school threat, not connected to ICE operations.

This inquiry involved threats made by a person of interest who had expressed a wish to harm school personnel and others.

According to a police department statement, officers were attempting to “safely contact the person of interest” when, at about 8:16 a.m., activists began to disrupt their efforts. The woman, identified as Mary Conmee, honked her horn continuously, refused to comply with police orders, and shouted obscenities, including, “I hate ICE.”

The police asserted that her actions interfered with legitimate law enforcement efforts and presented a significant risk to investigators. Subsequent investigations found that the individual in question was not behind the threats, and several schools had experienced threats similar to “swatting” incidents earlier that day.

A commentator highlighted the disturbance on social media, stating, “Deranged liberals are obstructing non-ICE police operations because Democratic leaders have enraged them. Today, an unidentified white woman used an air horn to disrupt an investigation into a school threat.” He questioned when such instigators would be held accountable.

Conmee, 63, hailing from Orrington—a town located a few miles southwest of Brewer—was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of government administration.
