Incident at School Bus Stop in Florida
A homeless man reportedly attacked a 13-year-old boy at a bus stop in DeLand, Florida. This incident occurred on a Tuesday morning when the assailant, Christopher Stephen Schwable, 36, allegedly choked and punched the teen before being subdued by nearby witnesses.
Witnesses intervened, one man stating he struck Schwable in the face with a toolbox after seeing the attack. Allegedly, Schwable had menaced him with a knife, prompting the man to hit him as a form of defense.
When police arrived, they found Schwable bleeding and injured. The boy recounted how Schwable brandished a knife and assaulted him, and two other witnesses backed up his account. In Schwable’s pocket, police discovered a green and black folding knife that was taken as evidence.
Prior to this altercation, Schwable had been in jail for over three weeks on charges related to indecent assault and possession of drug paraphernalia, but those charges were not connected to the current incident and were eventually dropped by prosecutors. He had just been released from prison about a week before the attack on the boy.
Following this disturbing event, Schwable was charged with aggravated child abuse and aggravated assault. It’s been confirmed that the victim is a seventh-grader at Southwestern Middle School, while Schwable is currently homeless.
