Venezuelan Immigrant Arrested in Arizona for Alleged Terrorism
A Venezuelan immigrant in Arizona is facing serious accusations after allegedly trying to intimidate local residents to gain control of the Maricopa area.
The individual, 27-year-old Javier Enrique Eraso Zuniga, is currently in custody at the Pinal County Jail with a bond set at $250,000. This was reported by Inmaricopa on Tuesday.
Bart Graves, a spokesperson for the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), stated that the suspect claimed parts of Maricopa’s Hidden Valley as his domain and demanded money from residents.
According to the charges, Zuniga reportedly assaulted a neighbor by putting him in a headlock and then threatening him with a knife. He also allegedly pointed a gun at another neighbor while they were in their driveway.
Not long ago, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Zuniga’s residence, discovering a firearm that is believed to be connected to these incidents. He is facing multiple felony charges, including terrorism.
DPS further indicated that Zuniga has been charged with aiding and abetting a criminal street gang as well as terrorism. However, details regarding this were not included in the indictment made available to DPS. The Pinal County Superior Court has hinted that additional federal charges could also be forthcoming.
In related news, a report from 2024 mentioned a Venezuelan immigrant who became a social media influencer, reportedly promoting “illegal occupation” and instructing others on how to unlawfully enter homes in the U.S.
Another point of concern is the violent Venezuelan gang, Torren de Aragua, which has been linked to various crimes in Colorado, including robbery, kidnapping, and extortion. The U.S. Department of State labeled Torren de Aragua a foreign terrorist organization in February.
This organization, according to the U.S. State Department, is involved in serious criminal activities such as kidnappings and extortion, and they even go as far as instructing their members to attack and eliminate U.S. law enforcement and opposition figures back in Venezuela.
During Donald Trump’s first year in office, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended around 7,000 illegal gang members, some of whom were convicted criminals, as reported by Breitbart News.
