Violence Erupts in Minnesota Amid Protests

Vice President J.D. Vance described the recent riots in Minnesota as “orchestrated chaos,” following a shooting incident involving federal agents over the weekend.

On Saturday, Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a 37-year-old nurse from Minneapolis, was shot and killed by a U.S. Border Patrol agent. Pretti was protesting against the federal government while reportedly carrying a licensed handgun. Authorities claim he resisted arrest as he attempted to interfere with the operation focused on immigration enforcement.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Vance accused “far-left agitators” of collaborating with local authorities to create the circumstances leading to the clash between Pretti and the Border Patrol agents.

“This level of artificial chaos is unique to Minneapolis,” Vance stated on social media. He further suggested that it was a direct result of coordinated efforts between local officials and these agitators.

As unrest grew in Minneapolis, multiple local leaders, including Governor Tim Walz, urged the Department of Homeland Security and the Trump administration to withdraw Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from the area.

Walz expressed his outrage, stating that Minnesota has experienced similar violence before. He called for an end to federal operations, emphasizing the need to remove what he characterized as “violent, untrained police officers” from the state.

“Minnesota believes in law and order. We believe in peace,” he remarked, directing his appeals toward President Trump.

However, the White House did not respond favorably. Press Secretary Caroline Levitt countered local leaders’ calls for federal withdrawal, asserting that the focus should be on removing “dangerous criminal illegal aliens” rather than police officers.

“Democrats have completely flipped their priorities around. They will not keep Americans safe,” Levitt stated.

The Department of Homeland Security reported that Pretti had approached officers with a 9mm handgun and was described as “violently resisting” attempts to disarm him, prompting the shooting. Yet, local footage and eyewitness accounts indicated that he was holding only a cell phone before being restrained, casting doubt on the official narrative.

Pretti was pronounced dead at the scene, and state officials later confirmed he had a valid permit to carry a firearm. Minnesota Democrats reacted strongly, arguing that the federal operation was escalating local tensions and jeopardizing the safety of all residents, not just those targeted by immigration enforcement.
