Missing 15-Year-Old Boy from Long Island

The family of a missing 15-year-old boy from Long Island reported that he has been missing for two weeks. Thomas Medlin went to New York City to meet someone he encountered through the online game Roblox.

According to Suffolk County Police, Thomas left Stony Brook School at around 3:30 p.m. on January 9. He was seen “running” to Stony Brook Station, where he boarded a train heading towards Grand Central Station in Manhattan. Police mentioned that surveillance footage shows him at Grand Central, and he was last seen around 5:30 p.m. that same day.

His mother, Eva Jan, expressed concern, stating, “I can’t understand why he left in the first place.” Meanwhile, Thomas’ father, James Medlin, echoed similar worries, emphasizing that this behavior was out of character for their son.

Yang, a relative, expressed disbelief over his departure: “He never left our side.” It seems there are many unanswered questions. Friends and family have mobilized search parties across Long Island and New York City, showing their love and support for Thomas.

A spokesperson from Roblox stated that the platform is designed with safety in mind and includes parental controls that can disable in-game chat. They expressed their concern for Thomas’ situation and noted their cooperation with law enforcement in the investigation.

If anyone has information regarding Thomas’ whereabouts, authorities urge them to contact Suffolk County Police Detectives at 631-854-8452.
