Cop from Long Island caught in FBI operation urging father to abuse his 10-year-old daughter while he watched online, according to authorities

A detective from Nassau County has been arrested under disturbing circumstances, accused of trying to convince a federal agent, who is the father of a 10-year-old girl, to allow her to be raped while he watched via video call.

Robert Sacco, aged 38, unknowingly communicated with FBI agents for three months through an encrypted app, offering cash to someone he thought was the girl’s father, according to court filings.

Sacco purportedly asked for nude images of the girl and coerced her into sexual activity, insisting that her father watch these incidents remotely, as outlined in legal documents.

The detective reportedly expressed a long-held interest in young girls and described his intentions as a twisted sort of “secret,” and he even had plans to buy inappropriate items for the girl.

His arrest occurred in Brooklyn on Saturday.

“The allegations against Detective Sacco are both shocking and revolting, and do not reflect the integrity of our police department,” Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman stated.

Beginning in October, a sting operation led to escalating online conversations where the officer sent explicit photos and even visited a family in Albany to discuss inappropriate activities involving their 10-year-old son at a distance.

Sacco has been suspended without pay and charged with trying to intimidate a child into performing a sexual act for broadcast, according to both Blakeman and court documents.

If found guilty, he could face a prison sentence of up to 25 years along with a possible fine of $250,000.

“What Mr. Sacco is accused of is absolutely unacceptable,” stated FBI Special Agent Craig Tremaroli.

“As a law enforcement officer, he’s violated the very laws he was sworn to uphold and now faces serious felony charges.”

No comments have been made by the Nassau County police, with the Post citing Blakeman’s earlier statement.
