Patrick Dempsey Takes on a Darker Role in New Thriller

Patrick Dempsey is making his way back to network TV, but this time, he’s stepping far away from his familiar, charismatic Dr. Shepard role from Grey’s Anatomy.

In the upcoming FOX thriller Memory of the Murderer, Dempsey plays Angelo, a man juggling multiple identities: he’s a father, a widower, a copier salesman, and, quite shockingly, a hitman. Living in a quiet Hudson Valley town, he secretly carries out contracts for his best friend and crime boss, Dutch, played by Michael Imperioli.

But Angelo’s life is tangled with more secrets. He begins to fade, losing his memory and showing signs of early-onset Alzheimer’s, a reality that also plagues his brother. It’s a tough situation, and he feels compelled to keep this from his loved ones.

The storyline unfolds between the Hudson Valley and New York City, where much of Angelo’s work occurs, along with the setting for Dutch’s restaurant. But, really, where was this thriller filmed?

Where Was Memory of the Murderer Shot?

According to IMDb, the filming locations included New York City and Cooperstown, NY, though much of it was actually set in Toronto, Ontario. Here, local shops were transformed to resemble New York City and Angelo’s fictional hometown, Hudson Springs.

In fact, the production was spotted at Brick Street Bakery in Toronto in October. Reports mentioned that they also filmed in the Upper Beach area and near the Malvern University Research Institute, along Pickering Street, Balsam Avenue, and Lyall Avenue.

For scenes depicting Hudson Springs, it seems Port Perry, specifically its historic downtown, was the stand-in location, which has been captured in various local video features.
