Surgeon Accused of Ex-Wife and Dentist Husband’s Murder Was Seen Near Their Home

A surgeon, Michael McKee, charged with the murders of his ex-wife Monique Tepe and her husband, dentist Dr. Spencer Tepe, had reportedly been hanging around their home for weeks leading up to the tragic events, as detailed in a newly released affidavit.

WBNS-TV reported that on December 6, 2025, McKee was noticed close to the Tepe residence in Columbus, Ohio. This was just weeks before the couple was found dead on December 30. Monique and Spencer had attended the Big Ten Championship game with friends on the same day, but Monique left early and returned to their hotel during the second half.

The affidavit indicated that McKee was caught on video entering the Tepe property that day and left several hours later while the couple was away.

Witnesses suggested to detectives that Monique had been abusive toward McKee both during and after their marriage. Allegations brought forth included claims of strangulation and nonconsensual acts.

Furthermore, reports state that McKee allegedly threatened Monique’s life, claiming he could kill her whenever he chose. Strangely enough, he purchased a house right next to hers and insisted that he would respect her wishes, as if still regarding her as his wife.

As for the night of the game, Spencer noted that Monique seemed upset about issues related to her ex-husband and decided to head back to the hotel.

Detectives mentioned that there were no indications of forced entry or a robbery; they emphasized that the killings weren’t random. “This is related to domestic violence considering the ex-husband,” stated Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant. She noted that more details could emerge as the trial unfolds, but a clear motive has not yet been established.

McKee has pleaded not guilty to four counts of aggravated murder along with one charge of aggravated robbery and is currently being held without bail.

Monique and McKee were married for seven months starting on August 22, 2015, before their split. Court documents reveal that Monique filed for divorce, stating that they were “incompatible.” Thankfully, their two young children were found safe at their home after the incident.

While awaiting further updates, many are left pondering the tragic circumstances that led to this situation. Questions linger, and answers may take time to surface as more investigation and trial procedures get underway.
