Bruce Springsteen criticizes Donald Trump's ICE raids in his new song 'Streets of Minneapolis'

Bruce Springsteen has unveiled a new song, dedicating it to the residents of Minneapolis while taking aim at President Donald Trump’s ongoing immigration enforcement in the area.

The track, titled “Streets of Minneapolis,” was released on Wednesday and features lyrics that convey the city’s struggles, highlighting how it fought adversity “under the occupier’s shoes,” a phrase Springsteen uses to describe what he calls “King Trump’s private army.”

Springsteen explained in a statement that he wrote, recorded, and released the song over the weekend, prompted by the second incident involving federal immigration agents in Minneapolis.

He expressed that the song serves as a remembrance for the city’s innocent immigrant community and specifically named victims Alex Preti and Renee Good.

In response, White House press secretary Abigail Jackson commented, “The Trump administration aims to encourage state and local Democrats to cooperate with federal law enforcement in removing dangerous criminal aliens from their communities. This song is not merely random—it’s filled with opinions that are misguided or inaccurate.”

The song develops from simple acoustic guitar and vocals into a richer band arrangement, including a harmonica solo, culminating in a chant proclaimed as “ICE Out!”

Springsteen’s lyrics resonate with people’s feelings, as he sings, “Oh, our Minneapolis, I hear you. Singing in the bloody mist/We take a stand for this land/And the stranger in our midst.”

The title evokes parallels to his earlier work “Streets of Philadelphia,” famously associated with the 1993 film “Philadelphia,” featuring Tom Hanks.

Throughout his career, Springsteen has frequently voiced criticism toward the president, who once referred to the musician as “overrated.” Their public disagreements have persisted; last year, during a tour in Britain, Springsteen remarked that America was under a “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous regime,” to which Trump responded, labeling him a “withered prune in his locker.”
