Clinton Critiques “Toxic Empathy” in Op-Ed

Hillary Rodham Clinton, who has run for president and served as Secretary of State, recently made headlines with a bold accusation. In a Thursday op-ed, she expressed her concern about what she termed a “war on empathy” led by far-right Christian figures. Clinton seemed to imply that these influencers are deviating from core values like dignity and compassion, suggesting that true Christianity boils down to just loving one’s neighbor.

In particular, Clinton critiqued the treatment of illegal immigrants, alleging that President Trump and his allies have abandoned empathy in favor of instilling fear. She condemned recent incidents in Minneapolis, referencing the death of a man named Alex Preti amidst what she labeled “inhumane” actions by federal agents.

Clinton highlighted what she sees as a growing threat of “Christian nationalism” that might undermine democracy and foster a theocratic governance in the U.S. She also slammed the sermons given by Bishop Marian Edgar Budde, describing them as wholly incompatible with God’s word.

“You know you’ve gone too far when Hillary Clinton writes a 6,000-word op-ed criticizing warnings about toxic empathy,” remarked Blaze TV host Allie Beth Stuckey, responding to Clinton’s comments.

The former Secretary of State took aim at Stuckey’s book, “Toxic Empathy: How Progressives Abuse Christian Compassion,” dismissing the concept of “toxic empathy” as a nonsensical term. Clinton called this viewpoint shocking, questioning whether it represents moral blindness or bankruptcy.

Moreover, Clinton found Stuckey’s traditional Christian stance on immigration infuriating and counterproductive. Stuckey, who has a significant following on social media, warns that some evangelicals are vulnerable to manipulators exploiting their empathy toward vulnerable groups, like undocumented families or young victims of sexual assault.

In her call to action, Clinton urged Christians to stand against what she considers the abuses of the Trump administration. She encouraged Democrats to foster a sense of community and compassion, values she feels conservatives have abandoned.

Stuckey, in response to Clinton’s critique, acknowledged her surprise at Clinton identifying as a Christian. She remarked on how troubling it is for someone to lack public acknowledgment of their faith while attempting to assume a position of moral authority.
