Former President Donald Trump has indicated he might take legal action against Trevor Noah, the host of the Grammy Awards, after Noah suggested Trump had visited Jeffrey Epstein’s infamous Caribbean island, which is associated with numerous allegations of sexual misconduct.
In a post on a social media platform, Trump referred to Noah as “poor and talentless” and hinted at pursuing a lawsuit for “a lot of S$.” This comment came amid Noah’s attempts at humor during the awards show, where he congratulated Billie Eilish for winning Song of the Year before making a jab at Trump.
Noah’s joke included a comparison of the Grammy, which many artists covet, to Trump’s public interest in Greenland, followed by a suggestion that Epstein’s island was no longer a viable playground for Trump and Bill Clinton.
Trump reacted by denying the claims, stating he had never visited the island or faced accusations of doing so. He also dismissed the insinuation as a fabrication from “fake news.” He added, “I cannot speak for Bill, but I have never been on or near Epstein Island…”
Following these remarks, Trump escalated his criticism of Noah, labeling him a “total loser” and stating his intention to sue for a significant amount.
In 2020, former President Bill Clinton also refuted having visited Epstein’s private island. Trump, for his part, has previously threatened legal action against both author Michael Wolff and Epstein’s estate. He accuses Wolff of having a close connection with Epstein and collaborating to undermine his political career.
The nature of Wolff’s relationship with Epstein is supported by released emails from 2016. Notably, Wolff mentioned to Epstein that he could serve as the “bullet” ending Trump’s campaign just months before the election when Trump secured his presidency.
Wolff is known for his book “Fire and Fury,” which presents a controversial account of Trump’s administration, a work that the former president has dismissed as lies and “garbage.” Importantly, Trump has not faced any criminal charges in connection with Epstein.
