A pregnant woman tragically lost her life after being struck by a car while cycling with her husband and two children in Los Angeles.
Regan Cole-Graham, who was seven months pregnant with a daughter, was involved in the incident around 6 p.m. Saturday in Playa del Rey, according to local police.
The 36-year-old was riding an electric bike alongside her husband Matt Graham and their children when they collided with a sedan that was moving in the same direction.
She was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors managed to deliver her baby before she was pronounced dead.
Unfortunately, the baby girl was later transferred to the NICU at UCLA Children’s Hospital, but she also did not survive. A fundraising page has been set up to assist the family during this difficult time.
The fundraising page states: “Sadly, Regan’s beloved baby girl passed away last night. Please keep Matt and the boys in your thoughts and prayers.”
“We are truly grateful for all the support.”
Officials mentioned that the driver, described as an elderly male, stayed at the scene following the accident.
Investigators have indicated that they do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident.
Remembered as a devoted wife and mother, as well as a loyal sister and daughter, Cole-Graham’s loss is deeply felt by her community.
The fundraising effort aims to cover funeral expenses and provide for Matt’s children in the future. “Thank you all for your love and support,” the page concludes.
Awareness of the fundraising campaign grew after independent journalist Chris Sillizza shared the details on social media, noting that he was a college friend of Matt Graham.
Sillizza expressed his desire to highlight the tragedy and seek help, stating: “On Saturday night, my college friend Matt Graham, his wife Regan Cole-Graham, and their two young sons were riding their bikes when she was struck and killed by a car. She was also seven months pregnant with their third child, a girl.”
The fundraising page features images of Regan with her husband and children enjoying moments at the beach, alongside pictures from their wedding and cherished times with their sons.
As of Tuesday morning, the fundraiser had raised over $144,000.
