A video showing police arresting a 17-year-old linked to a chaotic jewelry store robbery in Los Angeles went viral recently. The video sparked confusion as many watchers initially mistook the police for Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
This incident took place in Lynwood on a Friday, where a minor attempted to carjack a vehicle. According to reports, police intervened, and the footage revealed them tackling the boy to the ground, while onlookers shouted in anger.
As the video circulated, numerous viewers expressed the belief that ICE agents were behind the arrest. However, Anaheim police later clarified that the individuals seen in the video were undercover detectives apprehending the minor connected to a $1 million jewelry heist that occurred on January 20.
The boy was among eight suspects who had crashed an SUV into a jewelry store during this violent robbery. After the heist in January, the culprits fled in two Dodge Chargers, leading to accidents before their escape was finally halted. At this point, seven of the eight suspects had been apprehended.
