On Wednesday, President Melania Trump greeted Israeli hostages Keith Siegel and his wife Aviva at the White House. The couple recently appeared in a film that just debuted.
The First Lady distanced herself from promoting her self-named documentary, despite her and several former Hamas captives mentioning the film, released in theaters the previous Friday, during their comments.
In the documentary titled “Melania,” she engaged with Aviva about Keith’s situation and played a role in his release.
President Trump described his encounter with Aviva as “emotional,” noting that it was filmed and included in the movie.
She commended Aviva’s strength, stating, “Aviva was a warrior. She fought so hard for Keith. And I know he was in so much pain,” before addressing Keith directly: “I’m glad to see you doing well at home with your children, grandchildren, and family.”
Keith and Aviva expressed gratitude towards Melania for her assistance during their ordeal.
“Thank you for being such a caring person and for supporting and helping Aviva,” Keith remarked.
He also congratulated her on the film’s release, expressing excitement about seeing it and appreciation for Aviva’s involvement.
Aviva reciprocated his thanks, saying, “I knew how important it was for you to go home and speak with President Trump. So I want to thank you for that, and thank you, Melania, for including me in your special film.”
When reporters inquired about the nature of the gathering, the First Lady insisted it was not about business promotion. “This is not a promotion. We’re here celebrating the release of Aviva and Keith’s hostages. They called me to share their gratitude and wanted to hug me. That’s the purpose of this event. It has nothing to do with promotion,” she clarified.
