Kamala Harris Reactivates Social Media Accounts Over a Year After Election Loss
Former Vice President Kamala Harris announced the reactivation of her social media accounts Thursday morning, which comes over a year after her defeat at the polls.
In a video announcement, Harris shared that her campaign’s social media hub, initially named Kamala HQ, will be simply referred to as “headquarters.” This change aims to keep followers updated on recent developments and news. The revamped account described itself as a “new progressive content hub led by Gen Z.”
“So, Kamala Headquarters is transforming into just a headquarters. It will be a space for online updates about various happenings, as well as a place to engage with notable leaders—elected officials, community figures, and young activists,” said Harris in the video.
According to Politico’s Playbook, Harris will take on the role of “chair emeritus,” while former aide Rob Flaherty, along with former campaign managers Parker Butler and Lauren Cupp, will provide guidance for this initiative.
On social media, the account shared a teaser video depicting a login screen with phrases like “waytooonline” and “project2025wasreal” in the password area. This video seems to reference the term “chronically online,” which describes those deeply engaged in internet culture, and hints at “Project 2025,” a controversial policy agenda from the Heritage Foundation aimed at supporting the next Republican president.
Prior to this announcement, an account linked to Harris last posted on the platform on November 5, 2024, coinciding with the loss to Donald Trump and J.D. Vance in the election.
X’s “Trump War Room” account reposted the teaser video with an enthusiastic “LET’S GOOOO,” while another post cheekily asked, “Oh, you guys want more pain?”
The updated account features a link to a Substack called “HQ” and incorporates “67” in its handle, a nod to a meme favored by Gen Z.
