Utah-based Breeze Airways, known for its affordability and motto “Madly Nice,” has announced plans to broaden its travel routes within the United States.
The airline is introducing new non-stop routes from several cities, including Raleigh-Durham, Hartford, Columbus, Atlantic City, Charleston, Memphis, Louisville, Los Angeles, Madison, Pittsburgh, and Greenville-Spartanburg.
David Neeleman, the founder and CEO of Breeze Airways, expressed enthusiasm about serving new destinations and remarked how their service attracts travelers looking for convenient options. He particularly noted the excitement around bringing service back to Brownsville and Atlantic City.
Additionally, Breeze has expanded its Florida routes to include Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and Orlando. They will also be resuming airmail service to San Antonio, Texas, after a four-year pause.
Neeleman highlighted that the airline is eager to welcome guests back to historic San Antonio, marking the end of a four-year absence. They’ve also added Nassau in the Bahamas, making it their fourth international destination.
As summer travel season approaches, the CEO noted that these new routes are a step forward. This expansion comes just as a recent report from Nerd Wallet revealed that while airline prices have dipped over the past decade, many still feel that travel costs are expensive.
The report pointed to “unbundling,” where airlines offer lower base fares but often charge extra for services like checked baggage or aisle seats. It’s an interesting strategy that might save money upfront but could lead to unexpected costs later on.
Meanwhile, Breeze Airways continues to operate flights to Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. The airline commenced operations in May 2021, using Airbus A220-300 and Embraer 190 aircraft.
In Texas, local officials in Brownsville are already expressing excitement over the new Orlando route, making it the 84th destination for the airline. Service between Brownsville and Orlando will start on May 15, with tickets available for purchase.
Under the “No Flex Fare” promotion, which recently ended, one-way tickets for non-stop flights could start at $79, operating on Mondays and Fridays. Overall, the average round-trip domestic fare was reported at $397 earlier this year, showing a slight decrease compared to previous statistics.
As travel continues to evolve, it’s a reminder to users to stay vigilant regarding potential additional fees while booking flights.
