Suspect Arrested for Plotting to Kill OMB Head
The Arlington County Police have reported the arrest of a man accused of planning to murder the head of the Office of Management and Budget. Colin DeMarco, a 26-year-old from Rockville, was apprehended on August 10th after being spotted on the victim’s balcony while wearing rubber gloves and a surgical mask, according to officials.
A witness encountered DeMarco, who seemed to possess a concealed firearm and had a backpack with him. He fled the scene, but police were able to identify him through surveillance footage.
Authorities obtained a search warrant for his digital records, discovering that he appeared to be seeking to arrange the murder and had looked up directions to the victim’s residence.
DeMarco was arrested at his home. During questioning, he expressed that the 2024 election represented a low point in his life and voiced concerns about a possible war and a fascist takeover.
The intended target was identified as Russell Vought, known for facing threats due to his controversial involvement in Project 2025 and efforts to fire federal employees. Reports suggest that DeMarco, who held a presidential appointment, wrote a note titled “Body Disposal Guide” and mentioned his father’s firearm. He stated he was in the process of writing a manifesto before his arrest.
In one alarming message, he indicated a desire to kill the president, stating: “The more terrible things Trump does, the more I want to pick up a gun and shoot him.”
DeMarco faces charges including attempted murder, inciting murder, carrying a concealed weapon, and wearing a mask to hide his identity in public.
