Florida Gubernatorial Candidate Faces Arson Incident

James Fishback, a Republican running for governor in Florida, has been navigating considerable campaign successes since he kicked off his bid in late November. However, he has also encountered notable challenges, including what appears to be intimidation.

On Sunday night, Fishback’s campaign reported that a fire was “deliberately set” close to the home where he and his team had been working.

His campaign manager, Emma Wright, shared an official statement shortly after the event, highlighting that just after 5:50 p.m., someone intentionally ignited a fire in the backyard, which began spreading toward the house. Wright expressed gratitude for the speedy response from Madison County Fire and Rescue, which contained the fire before any significant damage occurred.

Fishback’s campaign strongly condemned all forms of political violence, asserting that such actions have no place in the United States.

In a tweet featuring Wright’s statement, Fishback reassured supporters, saying, “The team and I are fine.” He also shared images of the aftermath, which showed charred remains in a garden where firefighters had been working.

Shortly after the incident, Fishback posted about an upcoming rally he planned to host at his home. “I’m planning to host a gathering in my backyard tomorrow night,” he stated, reinforcing the message that they would not be intimidated.

Fishback later shared an invitation for the rally, which included what seemed to be his home address in Madison, Florida, set for Monday night.

Attempts to reach Madison County Fire Rescue for additional comments have been made, but Fishback’s team has not responded to requests for further information.
