Marc Anthony Comments on Beckham Family Feud
Marc Anthony has finally addressed the ongoing feud within the Beckham family after his name surfaced in recent drama.
The 57-year-old musician is a longtime friend of the Beckhams, and Brooklyn Beckham mentioned him in a harsh critique of his parents, David and Victoria, regarding his wedding to Nicola Peltz in 2022.
Anthony described the situation as “unfortunate.” He shared, “They’re a wonderful, wonderful family,” in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter published on Monday. “I’ve known these kids since before they were born. I’m Cruise’s godfather. I’m very close to the family.”
However, he also expressed disappointment about the way events have unfolded, noting, “I have nothing to say about what happened there… [how it’s playing out] That’s hardly true.”
In a notably public statement on her Instagram Story back in January, Brooklyn claimed that her mother “hijacked” her first dance with Peltz during the wedding reception, alleging that Victoria danced in a way that made her feel “uncomfortable” and “humiliated.”
Brooklyn wrote, “Marc Anthony called me on stage in front of 500 wedding guests. The schedule was for a romantic dance with my wife, but instead he waited for my mom to dance with me.”
Yet, a source later clarified that this moment was not actually their first dance but occurred after guests had been dancing for some time.
Anthony emphasized the goodness of the Beckham family but pointed out that there is “very little truth” to how the family drama is being portrayed.
The Grammy-winning artist had been set to introduce Brooklyn and Peltz before stepping onto a specialized stage to dance.
A wedding official commented, “This was supposed to be a big, romantic first dance. It was preordained for Nicola and Brooklyn.” Instead, Anthony called Brooklyn to share a moment with “the most beautiful woman in the room”—his mother, Victoria—rather than the bride.
A guest at the wedding remarked on how Victoria “got on stage and put her arm around Brooklyn” during the dance, causing quite a stir.
Brooklyn later claimed that she felt her moment was stolen, indicating, “She was dancing with him so inappropriately. She stole that moment from Nicola. That’s God’s truth.”
According to this same guest, “Nicola ran off crying,” while the Beckham side of the room cheered, leaving Peltz’s side silent.
Brooklyn has since stated that she does not wish to reconcile with her family. Meanwhile, her siblings, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, have publicly supported their parents in the aftermath of this family drama.
Recently, Romeo showcased a new tattoo on the back of his neck that reads “Family,” a notable contrast to Brooklyn’s choice to cover up her tattoos dedicated to their father and brothers.
