John Harbaugh Reflects on America’s 250th Anniversary
As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh shared his thoughts on this significant milestone during a conversation with Brian Kilmeade, which aired on “Fox & Friends” and “One Nation.” They spoke at the Giants’ training facility in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Harbaugh emphasized, “I think it’s important for people to remember that this nation represents the greatest experiment in governance and social building ever undertaken.” He noted that the significance of this concept wasn’t fully recognized until 1776, when the Founding Fathers introduced this groundbreaking idea.
When it comes to game day, he expressed pride in standing during the national anthem, noting, “I’ll be proud to be standing there.”
The Giants hired Harbaugh shortly after former President Donald Trump commented on the team’s coaching search. Harbaugh was let go by the Baltimore Ravens following a playoff-eliminating loss in Week 18.
“I was surprised,” Harbaugh recalled about receiving a call from Trump. “Suddenly, my phone started buzzing, and there it was—‘Oh, he’s the president.’ I think that’s really what we’re trying to do.” Harbaugh has met with three U.S. presidents, including Trump, along with Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama.
Reflecting on these experiences, he remarked, “It reminds you of how fortunate we are to engage in something like this.”
