Trump’s Immigration Crackdown Shows Results in Minnesota

Officials in Minnesota have reported that President Trump’s immigration efforts are already producing notable outcomes. Representative Tom Emmer, a Republican from Minnesota, shared with Fox News Digital that a federal initiative, known as Operation Metro Surge, has led to the recovery of around 3,000 migrant children previously believed to be missing.

Emmer emphasized, “Did you know that Operation Metro Surge apprehended 4,000 criminal illegal aliens? We’re talking rapists, murderers, pedophiles, drug dealers—4,000 people!” He also mentioned, somewhat incredulously, that the recovery of those missing children is just from Minneapolis. “I mean, really?”

Border management has been a significant concern as officials meet with local leaders to discuss strained immigration policies. Emmer, a vocal supporter of Trump during his second term, has criticized Democratic governance in the state, particularly targeting Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison.

“Their sanctuary policies have allowed criminals to freely operate and jeopardize the safety of decent Minnesotans,” he declared.

Trump’s administration has mobilized various federal agencies, particularly Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), to target undocumented immigrants who benefit from the state’s protective measures.

It was announced recently that federal operations in Minneapolis are concluding. These efforts have, at times, drawn significant backlash, resulting in tensions and protests. Critics and supporters tend to split along party lines on their views of these operations.

Tragically, the confrontation between law enforcement and community members led to the deaths of two individuals during protests against ICE. Emmer blamed the violent incidents on the reluctance of state and city leaders to collaborate with federal authorities.

The narrative he presented suggested that if there had been more cooperation from local leaders, these tragedies could have been avoided. “Losing lives is always sad, but it didn’t need to come to that. If they had worked together from the start, solutions could have been achieved faster,” he noted.

In light of recent unrest, Trump has shifted federal leadership. Tom Homan, often seen as a border enforcement advocate, has taken over as the point person for the administration’s immigration strategy. Emmer has praised Homan’s actions, viewing them as a significant improvement in handling the situation.

“What the administration has done is commendable,” he added. “Homan’s announcement of Operation Metro Surge’s success and its end indicates they’re now getting the needed cooperation from state and local authorities.”
