School shooter Jesse Van Rootselaar created a Roblox game about a mall shooting.

On Friday, it was disclosed that the individual responsible for a recent school shooting in British Columbia, which claimed eight lives, had developed a disturbing video game depicting a mass shooting scenario in a shopping mall.

The shooter, 18-year-old Jesse Van Luzeler, who identified as transgender, had shared his experiences with hormone therapy and strong hallucinogens on various forums. Before his tragic rampage in Tumbler Ridge on Tuesday, he created a concerning virtual “experience” on Roblox, which was later confirmed by representatives from the company.

In this unsettling first-person shooter game, players controlled a robot-like figure that picked up weapons in a shopping center, targeting individuals as they attempted to escape.

A spokesperson for Roblox stated that the company had “deleted all user accounts associated with this horrific incident and all content related to the suspect,” emphasizing their commitment to aiding law enforcement in the investigation.

Van Luzeler’s game and account were initially discovered by a user on the online forum Kiwi Farms, who shared a screenshot on a social media platform before Roblox took action to remove it. The story was first reported by 404media.com.

Roblox, which boasts around 380 million monthly users and is particularly popular among children, allows users under 13 to create and share “virtual worlds.”

Van Luzeler, who had a notable online presence, often made alarming remarks about drugs and weapons in various social media discussions.

On the fateful day of the shooting, he tragically killed his mother, Jennifer, along with his 11-year-old stepbrother, before entering Tumbler Ridge Middle School and opening fire. Five students, aged 12 and 13, as well as a teacher, were among the victims.

In addition, at least 25 others sustained injuries. Following the attacks, he ended his own life, predominantly in the school library.
