Officials in Los Angeles have issued evacuation alerts for residents in the Palisades and Eaton fire areas as a winter storm is expected to bring significant rainfall.
On Saturday, the Los Angeles Fire Department warned individuals in regions recently impacted by wildfires about the heightened risk of debris flows and landslides.
Wildfires severely damage vegetation and soil, leading to dangerous mudslides.
“Gather your loved ones, pets, and essentials. If you need extra time to evacuate, maybe consider doing so now. Learn more,” the alert stated.
The warning emphasized, “There is a significant threat to life and property. Anyone needing additional time to evacuate or with pets or livestock should leave now.”
This evacuation warning will be in effect from 9 PM on Sunday, February 15, until 9 AM on Tuesday, February 17. Reports indicate.

- Palisades Fire burn scar zone: LFD-1081, 1083, 1085, 1087, 1089, 1091, 1092, 1093, 1095, 1096, 1097, 0891
- Hearst Fire Burn Scar Zone: LFD-0001-B
- Sunset Fire Burn Scar Zone: LFD-0835
- Eaton Fire Burn Zones: SMD-E016, E019, 013, E015, E005, 002, 010, E007, E001, E014, E004, 006, 012, 011, E003, E008, and E009
In anticipation of the intense storm, the LAFD has made free sandbags available at all nearby fire stations. For one near you, refer to this map.
Residents are advised to gather necessary supplies, revisit evacuation plans, and stay updated as the storm approaches.
The storm is expected to begin hitting Southern California on Sunday, bringing heavy rain and strong winds into the start of the following week.
