Extremist Group Plans Anti-ICE Rally Amid Condemnation
An extremist organization focused on encouraging high school students to confront federal immigration officials is gearing up for its next large demonstration, following the White House’s recent remarks condemning “far-left organizations” that target law enforcement.
Called Dare to Struggle, this group is urging students nationwide to skip school and challenge immigration officials. They held a rally at the South Park Recreation Center in Los Angeles, just a week after an incident where two young men assaulted officials during a tumultuous protest downtown.
The group’s Southern California branch is not shy about promoting unrest, inviting local youth and others to “join the spring wave that will dissolve ICE,” as stated in a recent Instagram post.
Another mass rally organized by Dare to Struggle in Southern California is scheduled for Friday in Huntington Park, which was announced through social media.
According to the California Post, Dare To Struggle’s strategy includes targeting ICE and seeking to end mass deportations through drastic actions.
Leaders of the organization, which has various chapters across the U.S., have shared promotional pamphlets on social media asking people to join their cause.
The pamphlets call for actions like “melting ICE” and “crushing the mass deportation machine.” Dare To Struggle SoCal played a significant role in promoting a protest on Friday, during which hundreds of high school students participated in a “National School Walkout” near the Los Angeles Metropolitan Detention Center.
The event became violent, resulting in an ICE officer sustaining a concussion after being struck by a rock, as noted by the Department of Homeland Security. Another federal worker was also injured during the altercation.
Authorities are currently searching for two suspects linked to the attack. On Saturday, U.S. Central District Attorney Bill Esseri released images of the alleged attackers and vowed to pursue criminal charges against them.
Esseri commented, “These assaults will do nothing to stop immigration enforcement efforts. The only thing they will accomplish is ensure that the instigators of the violence, including juveniles, are criminally prosecuted.” As of late Sunday, it was unclear whether the suspects had been apprehended, and neither Esseri nor DHS responded to inquiries.
The affiliation of the suspects with the Dare To Struggle group remains uncertain.
In the meantime, the White House condemned the attack on ICE and criticized groups inciting violence against law enforcement. A spokesperson stated, “ICE agents are facing a 1,300% increase in assaults due to dangerous and untrue smears by elected Democrats and radical left-wing organizations.”
This spokesperson went on to assert that “ICE officers act heroically to enforce the law and protect American communities,” laying blame for the violence squarely on “far-left organizations” that, according to them, are unjustly targeting law enforcement rather than the criminals.
