Kennedy Critiques Celebrity Claims of Authoritarianism

Actor Jamie Kennedy recently expressed his frustration over celebrities who, while enjoying the comforts of private security, allege they are living under fascism. The Hollywood star, known for his roles in the “Scream” series and shows like “Entourage,” took issue with fellow actors labeling the U.S. as a dictatorship.

“Let’s just follow the existing laws, alright? We need to focus on removing criminals,” Kennedy stated emphatically.

He made these comments on a recent episode of “try not to die,” a podcast hosted by Jack Osbourne, the son of the late rock musician Ozzy Osbourne.

Identifying as “tired,” Kennedy conveyed his discontent with Hollywood elites who critique U.S. immigration and customs enforcement from their privileged positions. “People protest against ICE, which I get. The situation is complicated. But when actors walk the red carpet at fancy events, complaining about living under a fascist regime—come on!” he exclaimed. “It’s absurd.”

Kennedy pointed out the irony of celebrities critiquing him while being guarded by armed security at film festivals. “You can’t claim you’re under authoritarian rule while literally being protected by a small army,” he remarked. Osbourne chimed in, noting that if these stars were genuinely under an authoritarian regime, they wouldn’t be able to voice their opinions so freely.

A Call for Accountability

Kennedy called for celebrities to engage more directly with the issues they speak about, suggesting that they stay away from festivals like Sundance if they truly care about these matters. His comments seemed to echo the backlash against Hollywood’s statements regarding ICE, including actor Edward Norton’s comments comparing the agency to the Gestapo. Notably, there was a protest at Sundance, lasting around ten minutes.

“In theory, they’re protesting those trying to uphold laws against crime. Is it a flawless system? Not really. But we should still abide by the laws we have. Let’s focus on removing criminals,” he argued.

He expressed confusion over how some celebrities could denounce law enforcement while still relying on police protection in dangerous situations. “Honestly, I think many don’t realize how good this country is until they see the rest of the world,” he concluded. At that point, he urged celebrities to “just be quiet!”

Public Opinion on ICE

Osbourne mentioned polling that indicated over 60% of Americans are in favor of how ICE operates, a number he insists is higher than what the media portrays. He added that this information stems from left-leaning sources.

Having extensive knowledge of law enforcement, Osbourne expressed his disagreement with claims that the Biden administration has facilitated a surge of criminals entering the country. “Millions of immigrants are crossing the border illegally,” he stated. He also reflected on his own long path to citizenship, suggesting it’s unfair for illegal immigrants to circumvent that process.

The Struggles in Hollywood

Kennedy and Osbourne spent time discussing the pressing issues in Los Angeles, particularly regarding homelessness and taxes. “The situation is dire. It’s not just bodies on the streets; they look lifeless,” Kennedy lamented, recalling instances of people using drugs in public.

Osbourne shared that his children’s school is close to a homeless encampment, and he has voiced his concerns multiple times. The conversation revealed their collective frustration with California’s elite, which, Kennedy remarked, “don’t seem to change.” He referenced past wildfires, questioning if those events would inspire any real change.

Osbourne concluded that despite the troubles, many celebrities are still overly focused on maintaining their public personas, even when nearby residents suffer drastic consequences from poor governance.
