During President Donald Trump’s visit to a family-run steel service center in Georgia, the company’s president expressed strong support for the president’s tariff policies, just a day before the Supreme Court struck down many of those tariffs.
Andrew Saville, the president of Coosa Steel, noted that orders for tire racks began to surge in July 2025, following a steep decline in the tire rack industry that started around 2010.
“The tire rack industry was heading to China. There were no tariffs impacting them. They were bringing in tariffs that devastated the tire rack business in the U.S.,” he explained.
“In my first term, I noticed some improvements here and there. By my second term, particularly in July, orders and quotes were coming in non-stop, and I struggled to keep up,” he shared.
Saville pointed out that the prior October, the company received its largest order in a decade.
“In October 2025, we finalized our first big tire racking deal in ten years, which means our racking division will be busy with shifts six days a week,” he added.
“We’re dispatching orders as quickly as we can, and they’re all destined for Shippensburg, Pennsylvania,” he noted.
He also mentioned that Coosa Steel employees experienced wage increases under the president’s policies.
“Mr. President, what you’ve done for workers and for our economy, for all Americans, couldn’t have happened without your go-to term—tariffs,” Saville commented.
“You’re making America great again. You’re raising wages for these workers, and we are thrilled to call you our president,” he added, later describing Trump’s tariffs as a significant change for the better.
During the event, President Trump referred to Coosa Steel as a “great American company.”
“Foreign nations are dumping subsidized products, which takes away jobs from Americans,” Trump stated. “Keep in mind, China and others are footing the bill. It’s all subsidized. There’s no such thing as too much subsidy.”
“They didn’t introduce those subsidized products into our market to ruin American businesses,” he stressed.
However, on Friday morning—just hours after Trump’s visit—the Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 decision that the tariffs implemented under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act were unconstitutional. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Gorsuch, Barrett, Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson voted against the tariffs enacted under IEEPA.
