A dog groomer in San Diego is adding extra flair with a procedure that takes inspiration from Brazilian butt lifts (BBLs).
This technique, which is used to enhance the shape and size of the buttocks through fat grafting, is considered risky for humans due to the dangers associated with it. Still, it seems the potential hazards don’t dampen any spirits in the canine grooming world.
Logan Lago, who has been grooming dogs since he was 14, shared insights into his uniquely crafted procedure with the California Post. With millions of followers across platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, Lago claims he has already given approximately 50 dogs this unusual treatment. His videos, some of which have gone viral, have sparked a divide online. One particular post garnered around 650,000 likes, leaving many viewers both shocked and amused.
Comments varied widely. One user pointed out, “This is weird,” a sentiment echoed by more than 34,000 others. Another user chimed in, “I want to see them walking,” expressing curiosity about the after-effects of this unusual procedure.
“I never expected to witness a dog getting a BBL, but I’m oddly intrigued,” said another observer, highlighting the mixed reactions to Lago’s work.
Lago acknowledges that his approach may be seen as “controversial,” but he feels it contributes to the happiness of the dogs he grooms. “When they strut down the street looking fantastic, I think that’s what really matters,” he noted. “The comments don’t affect us as long as the dogs are comfortable.” His technique reportedly began when he noticed his poodle, Raikou, wagging his tail enthusiastically, which inspired Lago to try something bold.
He practiced his carving technique on Raikou and his other pets before giving it a go on fluffy Pomeranians. “I figured it’d be a fun twist, so I just went for it,” he admits, reminiscing about the quirky reactions his designs have received.
Lago indicated that when the concept blew up, clients began contacting him daily. Many come from Los Angeles, drawn in by this rising trend in dog grooming that mirrors the growing popularity of cosmetic procedures among humans, particularly in Southern California.
In a humorous take, he referred to Raikou as the “black Kim Kardashian,” asserting that his clientele often treats their dogs like their own children. “These are the kinds of people who push their pets in strollers,” he mentioned, capturing the essence of his customer base, which includes dog moms from both San Diego and Los Angeles. Some ask specifically for a BBL, while others merely want their dogs to sport “butt cheeks” reminiscent of trends they’ve seen online.
Curious about the price? It starts at $225 for smaller dogs, with an additional $15 to $20 for larger breeds. Yet, Lago shares that this isn’t even the most unconventional style he offers. Some customers have requested that their dogs resemble giraffes or pandas, and a recent client asked for a grooming inspired by Valentine’s Day festivities. Additionally, he has dyed dogs in vibrant colors for holiday themes, turning them into festive characters like Christmas elves.
