Bakersfield Police Address Viral 911 Call Video

Bakersfield Police are responding after a video surfaced, purportedly showing a rude exchange between a 911 caller and an operator. This clip has caught a lot of attention, amassing nearly 10 million views on TikTok.

The situation started on February 11 when a woman, known as Natalie, posted a video that claimed, “If you’ve ever called 911 in Bakersfield, you’ve called the same stupid awful operator.”

In her video, Natalie confronted the operator, asking, “Why are you so mean? Why are you acting like you’re calling me to work, you perverted son of a bitch?”

To clarify the circumstances, the Bakersfield Police Department (BPD) released the complete audio of the interactions from 2021. They aim to be more transparent following the incident.

However, the audio presents a different narrative than the one depicted online. In the initial four-minute call, a dispatcher is heard patiently collecting information about a suspected domestic violence case.

Later on, during three additional calls, dispatchers tried to establish contact with Natalie, who had left the scene after waiting for several hours. They wanted to send officers to her home.

Natalie declined their assistance, voicing concern that her parents might be “angry” if police arrived. She even requested to “call it off.” But the dispatcher explained that this wasn’t possible given it was a domestic violence complaint.

The dispatcher subsequently informed her about the police station’s operating hours, suggesting she turn herself in to file a report.

BPD stated, “Throughout these calls, our call takers maintained courteous and professional communication, consistent with our service standards.”

Additionally, police officials noted that none of the employees whose personal information was shared online were connected to this situation.
