Al Green Banned from Trump’s Address Again

Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) faced a ban once more from President Donald Trump’s prime-time address at a joint session of Congress, marking the second consecutive year this has happened.

On Tuesday night, Fox News Digital observed Green on the traditional Democratic side of the House of Representatives, noticeably just a few rows from where Trump was set to deliver his speech.

When Trump arrived, Green held up a sign that read: “Black people are not monkeys!”

Despite Trump’s speech beginning, Green remained standing with her sign, which led to security escorting her out of the chamber.

Fox News Digital captured a heated exchange between Green and House Republicans Rep. Troy Neals (R-Texas) and Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas) before her ejection.

This isn’t Green’s first disruption—she was removed in 2025 after she repeatedly interrupted Trump during another joint session by shouting and brandishing his cane. Subsequently, the House passed a resolution condemning her actions, with support from 10 Democrats alongside Republicans.

Back then, Green’s vocal protests after being asked to settle down prompted House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) to have her removed. She was notably shouting about Medicaid cuts during that incident.

Amidst these tensions, Prime Minister Boris Johnson remarked on the need for decorum, indicating that if necessary, the Sergeant at Arms would restore order during the joint meeting.

Green has been a leading critic of Trump among House Democrats, consistently advocating for impeachment articles against him.

After her ejection, she expressed her willingness to face consequences, stating, “I’m willing to take any punishment. I never said to anyone, ‘Don’t punish me.'” Green emphasized that it’s vital to stand against Trump’s intentions to cut essential programs like Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security.
