Many conservatives took to social media to applaud President Trump’s State of the Union address, which lasted nearly two hours, drawing enthusiasm from Republicans while frustrating Democrats.
Mark Levin, a conservative radio host, remarked, “It’s not just a great speech; it’s largely the president’s own words.” He added, “He’s a truly historic leader, and yes, it probably annoys Washington. But who cares?”
Charles Gasparino, a senior correspondent for FOX Business, expressed that Trump is “a giant” and called the speech “amazingly patriotic.” Meanwhile, conservative commentator Buck Sexton deemed it “the best State of the Union address I’ve ever seen,” stating, “It’s not just Trump; it belongs to every president.”
Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy praised the address for showcasing “America’s greatness,” recognizing war heroes, everyday individuals, and Olympic champions. Republican Rep. Chip Roy also stated that Trump had delivered “a home run” during his speech.
On the other hand, Democrats had a markedly different response, with many criticizing the president as the speech progressed. California Governor Gavin Newsom accused Trump of “destroying the country,” while also stating the address was boring.
Harry Sisson, a notable liberal voice, described the address as a “humiliation” for Trump and the Republican Party, claiming, “He spoke incoherently, and the applause from Republicans was nonsensical. It was nice to see military heroes honored, but he was lying through the entire speech.”
This particular address marked the longest State of the Union speech ever, with Trump emphasizing a “transformational shift” for the U.S. during his second term.
Trump introduced a variety of guests during his speech, including everyday Americans, Erica Kirk—widow of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, the U.S. men’s gold medal-winning hockey team, military personnel who performed heroic acts, and families affected by tragedies related to illegal immigration.
As the upcoming midterm elections approach, Republicans are gearing up to defend their positions in both the House and Senate, with added significance as the nation prepares to celebrate 250 years of independence.
In his conclusion, Trump stated, “This Fourth of July, we honor two and a half centuries of freedom and progress in this exceptional nation. And there’s much more to come. We’re entering America’s Golden Age.”
