Rep. Mace Proposes Death Penalty for Child Sex Offenders

Representative Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) has introduced a new bill that seeks to authorize the death penalty for those convicted of child sexual abuse. “Child rapists show no mercy, and those who prey on our most vulnerable deserve the toughest penalties available,” Mace stated.

Dubbed the “Death Penalty Act for Child Rapists,” the proposal aims to provide the death penalty as a potential punishment for severe cases of child sexual abuse.

“No predator should escape the consequences of such unimaginable crimes against children,” Mace remarked. She added, “This bill is straightforward: If you rape a child, there’s no second chance—you receive the death penalty. We’re unapologetic about safeguarding America’s children.”

The bill would amend Title 18 to allow the death penalty for aggravated sexual abuse and related crimes against minors, also modifying the Uniform Code of Military Justice to include the death penalty for child rape.

Mace emphasized the fight against powerful networks of predators, referencing the demand for accountability in cases like that of Jeffrey Epstein. “We have worked hard to expose these networks, and now we are ensuring that those who harm children face the ultimate consequences,” she noted.

Having been in the U.S. House of Representatives since early 2021, Mace is also among the candidates participating in the Republican gubernatorial primary in South Carolina.
