Iranian-American Community in Los Angeles Responds to U.S.–Israel Airstrikes on Iran

Celebration Among Iranian-Americans After Airstrike

On Saturday, hundreds from Los Angeles’ Iranian-American community filled the streets to celebrate the recent U.S. and Israeli airstrike that resulted in the death of Iran’s supreme leader.

“I feel a mix of emotions—crying, screaming, dancing, laughing. Above all, I want to celebrate,” expressed Shervin Khorramian, 55, as he waved an Iranian flag among the lively crowd outside the Wilshire Federal Building in Westwood.

“It feels really uplifting and hopeful,” he added. “For the first time in ages, I sense that we might actually be on the brink of change for Iran.”

The joyful demonstrators danced to Persian tunes and displayed signs that read, “Reza Pahlavi, make Iran great again,” in reference to the exiled crown prince.

They marched proudly, waving American, Iranian, and Israeli flags, while holding posters that expressed gratitude toward President Trump.

Arash Beftaj, who has family still in Iran, shared that he could “finally” envision a future with freedom for Iran after 47 long years. “We need to celebrate together,” he added.

Others echoed similar sentiments. Shekufe, who preferred to keep her last name private due to concerns for her family in Iran, remarked that the day’s events felt almost surreal. “I can’t believe this is happening,” she said, recalling her protests against the regime in the U.S. since 2006.

“We’re here for freedom, we’re here for Iran. Thank you, Mr. Trump, Mr. President, and Mr. Bibi Netanyahu,” she concluded, reflecting the collective hope in the air.
