Fetterman Breaks Party Lines on Trump’s Operation Epic Fury

Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman praised President Donald Trump’s Operation Epic Fury on Saturday, marking the removal of Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei as a “historic” event that unites Americans across party lines. On “Hannity,” he described Khamenei as “one of the most evil people in history,” reflecting sentiments similar to Trump’s announcement regarding Khamenei’s death.

“I really can’t understand why everyone, Democrats and Republicans, can’t celebrate that,” Fetterman stated, mentioning that tens of millions of people in Iran are rejoicing. He implied that this moment could pave the way for genuine peace and potentially liberate Iran from what he considers a toxic regime.

Operation Epic Fury involved coordinated military actions by the U.S. and Israel early Saturday against significant Iranian targets, including those linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and facilities related to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Officials indicated that Iranian air defense systems, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields were also hit. It’s been confirmed that the Israeli military specifically targeted sites associated with Khamenei.

This strike exposed divisions within both political parties, with some Democrats voicing support while certain Republicans raised constitutional concerns. Fetterman took aim at “deniers” and “self-proclaimed experts” who critique military actions, asking, “Are you ever tired of being wrong about this?”

He pointed out that many had predicted disaster, claiming, “Things could get… out of control. And that’s definitely not what happened.” Fetterman advocated for a bipartisan acknowledgment of the situation, even if it might “offend the base.”

Recent actions against Iran by President Trump have increased calls from both parties in Congress to limit his military authority, suggesting a vote on a resolution to rein in his war powers is necessary.

During an appearance on “Fox & Friends Weekend,” Fetterman explained his decision to part ways with his party and some Republicans regarding Trump’s actions against Iran. He asserted, “It was always the right thing to do,” stating that, while supporting peace is good, real peace requires decisive action, referencing previous military operations against Iranian nuclear facilities.
