Megyn Kelly Defends Piers Morgan Amid Controversy
Megyn Kelly spoke up for Piers Morgan on Wednesday after Ben Shapiro, the former Editor-in-Chief of Daily Wire, criticized Morgan for hosting a guest who was critical of Israel. Shapiro accused Morgan of giving a platform to individuals he deemed “real Nazis,” including Dave Smith and Nick Fuentes. In response, Morgan labeled Shapiro a “propagandist” for Israel.
On her show, Kelly suggested that Shapiro’s attacks on Morgan weren’t sincere. She mentioned that Shapiro was upset because Morgan had invited someone he didn’t like onto his show, framing it as an attempt to control the narrative around Piers. “I think they want to monopolize Piers’ show, which is impossible to control, and that makes them really angry,” she asserted.
In a segment of “The Ben Shapiro Show,” Shapiro criticized Morgan for not providing a counter-argument during the interview with his guest. Kelly found Shapiro’s suggestion that Morgan would allow someone like Fuentes to speak without challenge to be quite disingenuous.
Kelly recalled that her relationship with Shapiro soured after he accused her of minimizing conspiracy theories proposed by Candace Owens. Not long after, Vanity Fair reported that pro-Israel conservatives, including Shapiro, were allegedly attempting to suppress criticism of Israel and inadvertently promoting anti-Semitic sentiments.
She argued that it’s misguided for Shapiro to label dissenters as anti-Semites and to advocate for their exclusion from the conservative movement. “How many more people need to be removed for Ben to be satisfied? It’s absurd,” Kelly remarked, indicating that Shapiro’s influence led some to follow his lead in demanding the exclusion of others. “It’s entirely misguided. I’m glad Piers stood up for himself. I fully support him, and it’s unfortunate that Ben is heading in this direction.”
On his show “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Morgan expressed the importance of hearing all viewpoints and challenged those he interviewed. He further accused Shapiro of trying to enforce cancel culture against individuals with differing views on Israel.
