This week, Boston police shared body camera footage recorded when they were called to a restaurant to break up a gathering held by Patriots players following their AFC Championship win in late January.
The video, released by various news outlets, captures the scene at Estela in downtown Boston shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 27, showing what appeared to be Patriots members celebrating in the basement.
Officers reportedly noticed strippers and hookah setups in the basement, leading to fines for the establishment due to party violations.
Responding to a noise complaint, officers were informed by patrons, including the restaurant’s owner, Helder George Brandao, about the party being hosted by Patriots players, according to Boston.com.
One officer pointed out a hookah on a table, while dollar bills were scattered on the floor.
The footage included five 30-minute clips, where at one point, an officer mentioned having previously attended a similar after-hours party at Estela. “Damn…but if you had known it was these guys, wouldn’t you have given us some respite?” a man asked. The officer nodded, saying, “Listen, if you guys are going to do something, plan it with the city.”
Additionally, officers engaged with a woman who expressed fear in relation to a person named Kayshon. When the officer inquired whether she meant Patriots wide receiver Keishon Boutte, she confirmed.
A police report indicated that officers detected the smell of marijuana, noted the presence of alcohol, and spotted an exotic dancer in the basement.
No arrests or charges were filed against any Patriots players, but the Boston Licensing Board suspended Estela’s license for three days due to the incident.
