Aaron Donald is close to returning to the Rams after a workout video is released.

Aaron Donald hasn’t officially confirmed his return to the Rams yet.

Nonetheless, the chatter surrounding a potential comeback is certainly intensifying.

The latest buzz revolves around a training video Donald shared recently, featuring just the word “Work” as a caption. This is not out of the ordinary for him—he’s known as one of the NFL’s most committed training enthusiasts, and it seems that hasn’t changed even though he’s retired.

However, the timing of the post has only fueled speculation that the celebrated defensive tackle might be contemplating a return.

Sportsboom’s Jason La Canfora added to the conversation this week, asking, “Is it just a matter of timing if Aaron Donald will come back?”

In a report, La Canfora mentioned that what began as mere speculation has turned into a familiar subject, with whispers of Donald wanting to team up with Myles Garrett, recently acquired by the Rams.

Additionally, sources within the Rams have hinted that Donald has shared with others in the organization how inclined he is to consider ending his retirement.

While there isn’t a clear timeline just yet, it seems Donald won’t make an appearance when training camp kicks off, and the Rams are likely prepared to be patient regarding his situation. How much patience they’ll be able to muster is certainly up for discussion.

For someone who hasn’t played since the 2023 season, easing back into things would probably make sense, allowing him to gradually regain his strength.

Yet, this is Aaron Donald.

He didn’t retire as an aging player looking for one last year. He left while still being a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, eight-time All-Pro, ten-time Pro Bowler, and a Super Bowl champion—one of the most formidable defensive players to ever play the game.

In his recent training videos, he certainly doesn’t look like someone who has stepped away. In one clip, he’s effortlessly tossing around a heavy dumbbell—his offseason training sessions have been legendary throughout his career.

Even post-retirement, Donald appears more than capable of challenging the offensive line.

One NFL general manager speculated to La Canfora that the “problem” would still exist if Donald returns, indicating that he’s clearly keeping himself in shape, so it might not be long before he adapts back into game form.

The Rams have already made significant offseason moves, including bringing in Garrett. Pairing him with Donald, even at age 35, could give Los Angeles one of the most intimidating defenses in the league, and it would likely elevate a team already considered a Super Bowl contender.

Currently, there hasn’t been any official announcement from Donald. It seems the Rams will let him dictate his own timeline, and there’s no urgency for the team to push him into training camp this July.

Technically, Donald could still choose to retire.

But with every hint that surfaces, the pressing question shifts from whether he will return to when that return might happen.
