Backlash Against Virginia Governor Following Possible Terror Attack at Old Dominion University

Virginia’s Democratic governor is facing criticism amid an FBI investigation into a possible terrorist attack at Old Dominion University. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, involved an armed individual who killed one person and injured two others before being subdued by other students.

The victim has been identified as Lt. Col. Brandon Sher, who was a professor of military science at ODU. This tragic event raised many questions, especially around the motives behind the attack.

The gunman was named Mohamed Beiler Jalloh, a former Army National Guard member with a past conviction related to supporting the Islamic State.

In response, Gov. Abigail Spanberger expressed her condolences, stating, “Lt. Col. Brandon Shah was murdered today in a classroom at Old Dominion University. He dedicated his life to serving our country and inspired many others to do the same.” She added, “I am grateful for his example, deeply saddened by his loss, and pray for his family. I also thank the brave students, first responders, and law enforcement officers who acted swiftly today.”

However, critics wasted no time in targeting Spanberger for her remarks. Brian Dean Wright, a former CIA officer, pointed out that she once labeled such acts more plainly, accusing her of being evasive now due to her political affiliation.

He stated, “If you just read the Virginia governor’s post, you would have no idea he was murdered by terrorists because of his service and love for his country. That’s a deliberate omission.” Riley Gaines, a FOX News podcast host, echoed similar sentiments, questioning the lack of clarity in the governor’s statements.

Senator Ted Cruz also chimed in, demanding to know who was responsible for the killing without hesitation.

Radio host Jeanne Ives criticized Spanberger’s reluctance to label the event an act of terrorism, expressing disbelief given Virginia’s significant military presence.

While Spanberger campaigned as a moderate Democrat, her actions in office have reportedly shifted to more progressive policies, raising eyebrows among some constituents.
