Iranian officials reported over the weekend that they have apprehended numerous individuals across different provinces on allegations of spying for Israel.
According to the Fars News Agency, which is linked to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), 20 suspects were taken into custody in Urmia, a city in northwest Iran. These individuals are accused of supplying information concerning military and security locations to Israeli authorities.
On Saturday, the Intelligence Ministry of Iran indicated that agents labeled as “enemies” had been arrested nationwide. This included two groups of ten, one in Mazandaran province and another in Khorasan Razavi province, as per reports from Tasnim news agency.
Authorities claim these suspects have identified military sites and economic infrastructures, even sharing the coordinates of public landmarks and educational institutions with Israel.
In southern Khuzestan, officials reported the arrest of a three-member “terrorist team” believed to have executed armed assaults on government and security installations.
A recent article noted that a high-ranking Israeli security official mentioned Israel’s reliance on information provided by ordinary Iranians to pinpoint targets within Iran.
Details regarding these potential targets are relayed through Farsi-language social media accounts operated by Israeli sources and are confirmed by authorities prior to execution.
In another event, Bahrain’s authorities disclosed the arrest of five individuals suspected of leaking classified data to the Revolutionary Guards and aiding in the recruitment of operatives for potential attacks within Bahrain.
The suspects reportedly gathered coordinates and images of strategic sites, including hotels, and sent these to the Revolutionary Guards, as stated by the Bahrain Police Media Center.
One of the detainees allegedly received training at a Revolutionary Guards facility focused on “human trafficking and operative recruitment for executing terrorist actions.” The five individuals have been directed to Bahrain’s public prosecutor, while a sixth suspect tied to the case is considered to be on the run.
