Iran Claims It Is Prepared to Discuss a Peaceful Resolution to the War While Striking Neighboring Countries

Iran’s Foreign Minister Comments on Regional Conflict

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Sunday that Tehran is open to regional initiatives aimed at achieving a fair resolution to ongoing conflicts, even as the country continues to carry out attacks across the region.

“To end the war, we need to ensure it doesn’t happen again and address reparations,” Araghchi remarked via Telegram.

Araghchi also claimed that Iran is engaging with Gulf states to establish conditions for ending conflicts, which seems to contradict the prevailing stance of Tehran’s government. Several regional nations have expressed concern about assaults from Iranian missiles and drones.

In an interview with CBS News, Araghchi perpetuated the narrative that Iran’s military actions have targeted only U.S. military bases and interests. He responded to President Donald Trump’s comment that Iran seeks a deal to cease hostilities, stating, “We are stable enough. Our priority is our defense, and previous talks with the U.S. have not been fruitful.” He expressed frustration, asserting, “We never requested a ceasefire or negotiations.”

On the same day, Araghchi suggested that U.S. and Israeli forces now recognize Iran’s resilience against airstrikes. He commented, “They’ve learned a lesson about the kind of country they’re up against—a nation ready to defend itself and willing to carry on the fight as long as necessary,” referring to Iran’s military actions in the region.

On that same day, Iran launched numerous drones and missiles at targets in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Many of these attacks were intercepted, but there were reports of casualties, including Palestinian lives lost in Abu Dhabi and damage inflicted on Dubai International Airport.

The UAE Minister for International Cooperation, Reem Al Hashimi, condemned Iran’s aggressive actions as “unrestrained” and detrimental to any efforts for a ceasefire. She expressed surprise that Iran would target nations advocating for de-escalation, emphasizing that the situation was largely peaceful before these developments.

“It’s astonishing that Iran chose to confront those who were calling for calm,” she stated, highlighting the irrationality behind Iran’s military actions against Gulf states. The attacks, she insisted, aimed at both military and civilian infrastructures, indicating a broader scope of aggression rather than just military retaliation.

Al Hashimi affirmed the UAE’s enduring partnership with the United States, noting that despite facing significant missile attacks, their alliance remains strong. She concluded by stressing that Iran’s choice to attack targets beyond military bases has added a concerning dimension to the conflict.
