Mike Francesa makes a silly mistake about Joel Embiid involving Zuby Ejiofor

Mike Francesa makes a silly mistake about Joel Embiid involving Zuby Ejiofor

Mike Francesa Admits Error About College Basketball Transfer

In a surprising twist, New York radio legend Mike Francesa admitted he was mistaken regarding Zubie Ejiofor’s transfer from Kansas State to St. John’s University. Francesa claimed that Ejiofor left Kansas because he didn’t want to sit behind Joel Embiid.

However, Embiid last played for Kansas in 2014, prompting a flurry of reactions on social media. Many users pointed out the age discrepancy, noting that when Ejiofor made his decision, he was just a child. Some even mixed up Embiid with Hunter Dickinson, a recent Kansas star.

Mike Francesa said Zuby Ejiofor transferred from Kansas State to St. John's because he didn't want to sit behind Joel Embiid.
Embiid's last game against Kansas was in March 2014, when Zuby was 9 years old. Needless to say, Embiid was only in college for one year.

Francesa, in his podcast, remarked, “Ejiofor left Kansas a long time ago. He left Kansas because of Embiid. And Embiid is a different player than Zuby. Embiid is a guy who can score 50 points in the NBA when he’s healthy.” He praised Ejiofor’s career at St. John’s, crediting coach Rick Pitino for his development.

After realizing his mistake, Francesa tweeted, “I didn’t know Ejiofor left Kansas because of Embiid. It must have been tough because yesterday he turned 32. We’re talking about Hunter Dickinson. I hope he accepts that break gracefully. It’s well-deserved.”

Yet, there’s still some confusion about the timeline. Ejiofor actually transferred after the 2022-23 season, while Dickinson joined Kansas for the 2024-25 season. Also, Dickinson had previously played at the University of Michigan, adding another layer to the situation.

Francesa’s humility is notable, even as the timelines he presented don’t match up perfectly. Francesa, famed for his lengthy radio career, often had a tough demeanor towards callers, and this admission stands out against his history. He’s known for not being the most forgiving, as illustrated by past encounters with listeners.

Since his radio days, Francesa has launched a podcast and amassed a substantial following, demonstrating his undeterred presence in the media landscape.
