Senate Leaders Endorse Kevin Hahn
Senate Minority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Tim Scott (R-S.C.) have both expressed their support for Rep. Kevin Hahn (R-Okla.) as he aims for a Senate seat.
Thune remarked in a statement, “Kevin Hahn is a proven conservative leader who has fought for Oklahoma in the House and supported our shared Republican values. He’ll be a valuable addition to the Senate.” He highlighted Hahn’s commitment to the party’s policies.
Scott echoed these sentiments, saying, “Kevin Hahn is a principled conservative dedicated to Oklahoma’s welfare, having a strong track record in job creation and prosperity. He stands firm with President Trump’s policies, and we’re thrilled to see him joining us in the Republican majority.”
Thune Responds to Critics
Thune has recently criticized opponents who, in his view, are fostering unrealistic expectations regarding the stalled American Rescue Act.
In other news, President Trump has nominated Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin from Oklahoma to serve as Secretary of Homeland Security. If the Senate backs this nomination, Oklahoma’s Republican Governor Kevin Stitt will have the responsibility of selecting a replacement. However, this comes with a stipulation.
Senate Aspirations
Representative Kevin Hahn attended the confirmation hearing for Mullin, which took place on March 18, 2026, indicating his willingness to step into the Senate seat if it becomes available.
Stitt posted on social media, thanking President Trump for the opportunity to discuss the search for Oklahoma’s new U.S. senator. “Trump’s choice to appoint Mullin is commendable, and I’ll act quickly on selecting his successor once confirmed,” he noted.
Recently, Trump endorsed Hahn for the Senate seat, highlighting his confidence in Hahn’s potential impact.
In a strong statement, the president mentioned, “Kevin Hahn will make an exceptional senator, and I fully back him. He won’t disappoint!”
