Predictions on Iran’s Regime Stability Amid Conflict
Historian Victor Davis Hanson has suggested that the Iranian government might face collapse soon due to ongoing military actions initiated by President Donald Trump in the Middle East.
On his appearance on “Hannity,” Hanson claimed that the president’s approach is effective, noting a shift in global dynamics as Operation Epic Fury, a joint initiative with Israel, proceeds into its third week.
“If Trump manages to execute this well—and I believe he will—then it could all come crashing down in just a couple of weeks,” Hanson stated, emphasizing that this sentiment is perceived by Europeans and others in the region as well.
He expressed that many recognize the urgency of the situation. “The people know it,” he remarked, referring to sentiments among various stakeholders.
Additionally, Hanson underscored that Trump’s strategy avoids the mistakes of previous administrations in Iraq and Afghanistan. By not deploying large ground forces, he believes the U.S. can leverage precision intelligence and advanced military technology instead.
“We’re not about to put troops in situations reminiscent of Fallujah and go house-to-house against militants,” he stated. Instead, the focus is on using military strengths—like intelligence and firepower—through innovative methods that include drones and satellite reconnaissance.
U.S. drone strikes have specifically targeted senior Iranian officials, and the military presence is increasing with the deployment of more warships and around 2,500 Marines to address Iran’s activities in the Strait of Hormuz, which have already impacted oil prices significantly.
President Trump expressed frustration regarding allies’ limited involvement in reopening this critical waterway and mentioned that American forces could utilize British bases for potential strikes against Iranian missile installations threatening vessels in the Strait.
“The Europeans will not consider strengthening ties to Iran unless they perceive a shift in power or a direct threat,” Hanson remarked, underscoring the potential for a favorable outcome for the U.S.
The Operation Epic Fury began with a significant strike against Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Following this, Iran’s current leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, asserted that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until the conflict concludes, while advocating for the withdrawal of U.S. military presences in the area.
