The hotel linked to the incident involving singer Chappell Roan and the 11-year-old stepdaughter of soccer player Jorginho stated it bears no responsibility for what happened. This comes in response to Roan’s assertion that the security guard reprimanding the young fan was not someone from her team.
“Hotel representatives have emphasized that they are not at fault in this situation,” reported Brazilian outlet Leo Diaz, referencing the establishment in Sao Paulo where the incident allegedly took place.
A hotel spokesperson addressed questions regarding whether one of their employees disciplined Jorginho’s stepdaughter, who is also the biological child of actor Jude Law, after she smiled at Roan while passing by.
On Saturday, Jorginho publicly criticized Roan on Instagram, sharing his wife’s account of events, which concluded with the phrase “Good luck baby!” The singer faced significant backlash and was subsequently banned from performing in Rio de Janeiro.
In response to the criticism, Roan shared a brief video on her Instagram Story, asserting that she does not “hate” children and that the mother-son duo were “associated with a security guard who was not my personal protection.”

Notably, this led to skepticism about whether the individual who scolded the young girl was, in fact, a hotel security guard.
Jorginho’s wife, Catherine Harding, also expressed her views online, confidently stating that the person who reprimanded her and her daughter “was not a hotel security guard.”
“I’m not sure if he was her personal security, but he was with her,” she noted. “Did she prompt him to act that way? I’m not sure… I hope not.”
“However,” she added, “if you’re in the public eye, you have a duty to make sure your team operates properly. So if he didn’t have the proper authority, would he have acted that way?”

Meanwhile, numerous social media users were skeptical of Roan’s narrative and openly criticized her, pointing out that she often reacts negatively to fans’ praise in public.
According to Breitbart News, Jorginho accused Roan of having security intimidate his stepdaughter for merely “admiring” him during breakfast at the hotel.
He described how the guard left the young girl “very upset” and “in tears” after she, excitedly, walked by Roan’s table, glanced to confirm it was her, smiled, and returned to her mother.
“She didn’t say a word or ask for anything,” Jorginho remarked. “She was just a kid looking up to someone.”
The athlete ended his post with a strong declaration, stating, “Without your fans, you’re nothing. And to the fans, she doesn’t deserve your affection.”
On the other hand, Ms. Harding mentioned that her daughter is used to being around famous individuals, despite the reprimand from the security guard, whom she described as a “large” and “intimidating” man with “a very aggressive tone.”
Given her familial connections to well-known public figures, she feels her child is well-acquainted with the celebrity world and will not overstep boundaries, Harding stated.
“She understands her limits quite well,” her mother said. “I’ve tried explaining this to him.”
“And he just repeatedly said, ‘Then you should know better. Given your background, you ought to teach her to do right,'” Harding recounted.
Mr. Harding expressed his shock and noted that Roan allegedly remarked to a guard, “If you don’t want to be recognized, perhaps you should consider eating breakfast in your room.”
“This is a public space, and I’m a paying guest just like her,” Harding asserted. “So if I walk past someone’s table and want to look, I have every right to do so.”
