Trump Urges Sidney Gruters to Consider Congressional Run

Former President Donald Trump is backing Sidney Gruters, the spouse of Republican National Committee Chair Joe Gruters, encouraging her to run in Florida’s 16th Congressional District. Trump expressed his support in a post on Truth Social, stating he heard that she may be contemplating a campaign.

“Sidney Gruters has my full and complete support if she decides to run this race. Run, Sydney, run!” Trump said.

Currently, Republican Rep. Vern Buchanan holds the seat but has decided not to seek re-election. Joe Gruters, appointed as RNC chairman last year, also serves in the Florida state senate.

Sidney Gruters acknowledged Trump’s endorsement, saying, “I am honored to receive the support of President Donald J. Trump. His leadership has transformed our country and continues to inspire millions of Americans who believe in America First.” She mentioned a particular focus on affordable living for families in her community and hinted at making an announcement about her direction soon.

Trump, known for his outspoken support of candidates aligned with his agenda, referred to Sidney as a dedicated civic leader. He outlined her potential role in Congress, highlighting her commitment to issues such as economic growth, tax reduction, and protecting rights. “As Congressman-elect, Sidney will work tirelessly to grow our economy, reduce taxes and regulations, promote Made in the USA, unlock America’s energy advantage, secure our borders, stop immigration crime, support our military and veterans, protect elections, support school choice, and protect the Second Amendment, which is always under siege,” he stated.
