Trump Criticizes Democrat Sanctuary Policies for the Death of Sheridan Gorman

Trump Critiques Sanctuary Policies Following Tragic Death of Student

In the wake of the tragic death of 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman, allegedly killed by an undocumented immigrant, President Donald Trump directed his criticism at the Democratic Party and its sanctuary city policies.

At the National Republican Congressional Committee’s annual fundraising dinner on Wednesday, Trump reflected on his administration’s achievements while also addressing Gorman’s death. She was reportedly shot while walking with friends in Chicago on March 19.

“Restoring public safety requires holding corrupt Democratic officials accountable for obstructing federal law,” Trump remarked. He pointed out Gorman’s tragic fate, stating, “Less than a week later, a precious 18-year-old college student named Sheridan Gorman was shot while innocently walking in a park.”

He elaborated on the accused, stating the illegal immigrant had “entered the country illegally from Venezuela” and was released during Joe Biden’s presidency.

Trump further criticized the situation, noting that the suspect had been arrested again and released in Chicago, which he described as a sanctuary city governed by J.B. Pritzker, whom he labeled as one of the country’s worst governors.

“Every American needs to know that the Republican majorities in the House and Senate will remember this and abolish sanctuary jurisdictions once and for all,” Trump asserted.

Reports indicate that Jose Medina-Medina, a 25-year-old from Venezuela, was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and illegal possession of a firearm.

According to police accounts, Medina-Medina approached Gorman and her friends around 1 a.m. in Rogers Park, Chicago, while wearing a mask, and opened fire. Gorman was struck in the head and died at the scene.

Authorities mentioned that after Gorman noticed Medina-Medina hiding and alerted her friends, he chased them while continuing to fire shots in their direction.
