Trump leads CPAC survey as conservatives unite around agenda and support actions against Iran

Trump’s Influence Remains Strong Among Conservatives

A recent poll sheds light on President Donald Trump’s strong foothold within the conservative movement.

Conducted among over 1,600 attendees at last week’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the results revealed that an impressive 96% of participants approve of Trump’s presidency.

Moreover, 94% of those surveyed believe Trump is “the best president of my lifetime.”

Support for Trump’s policies is also notable.

The poll indicated that 91% back tariffs aimed at shrinking the trade deficit and supporting American workers and businesses. Furthermore, 89% expressed support for military actions to eliminate Ayatollah Khamenei and curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions, while 92% favor the arrest of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.

Prominent Republicans received praise as well.

Vice President J.D. Vance garnered a 92% approval rating, while House Speaker Mike Johnson received 84%. Senate Majority Leader John Thune followed with a 57% approval.

Interestingly, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was the most favored member of the Trump administration, with 42% naming him their preferred choice. He was closely followed by Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

The poll also hinted at the future direction of the Republican Party.

If a hypothetical 2028 Republican primary were held today, Vance would lead with 53% of the vote, while Rubio would capture 35%. Other candidates remained in the single digits.

On the Democratic front, respondents identified California Governor Gavin Newsom and New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani as prominent voices on the left.

Since its inception in 1964, CPAC has been the country’s longest-running conservative grassroots gathering, championing themes of “life, liberty, and property.”

The study participants were predominantly from the South, with an average age of around 49.
