Search for Missing Oakland Coffee Shop Owner

An urgent search is currently underway for a well-known coffee shop owner from Oakland, California, who has gone missing under concerning circumstances. Authorities are worried that she may be in danger due to a serious medical condition.

Amy Hillyard, 52, was last seen around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, near her residence on Ladner Road in the Cleveland Heights area, close to Lake Merritt. According to reports, she left her home without her cellphone, and there hasn’t been any contact from her since her disappearance.

Details about her medical condition remain scarce, but it has been deemed critical enough that she is categorized as a high-risk missing person.

Hillyard is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes. At the time she was last seen, she was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers with black stripes.

Hillyard’s disappearance has sent shockwaves through the close-knit community of Oakland. As a co-owner of a popular local café, she is a well-respected figure, actively involved in community initiatives.

Friends, employees, and customers have noted that her absence is quite unusual. One former colleague expressed, “We want her home. She adores her family, especially her two daughters, and is passionate about everything she does.”

Missing person posters featuring her image have appeared around busy streets and café windows, with locals describing her as warm, generous, and deeply connected to her community. One café regular remarked, “This whole situation is both heartbreaking and shocking.”

Beyond her café, Hillyard has made significant contributions to various organizations. She runs a consulting business where she advises leaders from companies like Apple, Gap, and Electronic Arts, according to her website.

Hillyard is also involved in nonprofit work, serving on boards and leading pro bono efforts, and she holds the position of president of the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir.

In a recent statement regarding her disappearance, choir officials mentioned that the news has profoundly affected the community, saying, “This is incredibly difficult news for our close community. Amy is a vital part of our organization, and our thoughts are with her and her loved ones as we wish for her safe return.”

Additionally, Hillyard and her husband operate a second café in San Francisco, further extending their presence in the Bay Area. Her husband noted that the family has been touched by the outpouring of community support as the search continues.

Authorities encourage anyone with information about Hillyard’s whereabouts to reach out to the Oakland Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit at (510) 238-3641. While the police haven’t provided specifics about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, they stress that time is of the essence in such critical cases.
