Trump acts to protect elections from voter fraud — Democrats are planning to block it

Trump’s Executive Order Targets Mail-in Voting

President Donald Trump has initiated new measures directed at preventing potential fraud in mail-in voting, prompting immediate backlash from Democrats.

The executive order, signed recently, instructs the Secretary of Homeland Security, alongside the Social Security Administration, to create a list of individuals eligible to vote in every state.

Moreover, the order mandates the U.S. Postal Service to send ballots only to those on the validated voter list and to ensure that all mail-in ballots are dispatched in secure envelopes with unique tracking barcodes.

States will be provided with their voter lists at least 60 days before federal elections. Additionally, the U.S. Attorney General is directed to focus on investigating and prosecuting anyone found facilitating the delivery of ballots to ineligible voters, including state and local officials and private entities.

In response, Democrats charged that Trump is infringing on the voting rights of Americans and overstepping states’ authority to conduct elections. Oregon’s Secretary of State Tobias Reed criticized the order as an “illegal power grab,” asserting that Oregon’s established vote-by-mail system is already reliable and efficient.

“Elections are a state matter,” he argued, adding a warning to the president: “See you in court.”

Similarly, Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes labeled the order as federal harassment, vowing to challenge it legally as well.

White House Press Secretary Abigail Jackson emphasized that election integrity is a priority for Trump, citing popular support for his policies as a driving force behind his re-election.

In Congress, there’s ongoing discussion about the SAVE Act, which requires voters to show proof of citizenship to register for federal elections. Democrats are firmly against this proposal.

Jackson reiterated that Trump will do everything possible to safeguard U.S. elections, highlighting the importance of swift passage of the SAVE America Act.

The president has also indicated plans to veto any other legislative actions until the SAVE Act is approved, insisting that it is a top priority.
