President Donald Trump spoke to the nation on Wednesday night, claiming that the U.S. has made significant progress toward its “core strategic objectives” in Iran, following the recent launch of Operation Epic Fury. He warned that the U.S. plans to deliver “extremely severe” consequences to Iran in the weeks ahead.
“I’m pleased to report that we are moving closer to these objectives,” Trump said, commending the U.S. military for its “extraordinary” work.
Operation Epic Fury Is ‘Nearing Completion’
During his address, Trump stated that after 32 days of military action, Iran has become “essentially no longer a threat.” He clarified the goals of Operation Epic Fury, indicating that it aims to dismantle Iran’s capacity to threaten the U.S. and their power projection capabilities.
“We’re eliminating their navy, severely damaging their air force and missile capabilities, and obliterating their defense industry,” he added.
“Our military has executed an unprecedented operation. Everyone’s talking about it,” he noted with evident pride. He assured that the U.S. is nearly finished achieving its military objectives.
Trump also expressed gratitude to Middle Eastern allies like Israel and Saudi Arabia, assuring them of U.S. support. He stated, “We will not let them get hurt or fail.” He emphasized the continuation of efforts until all objectives are fulfilled and warned that there could be significant repercussions over the next few weeks.
Concerns Over Rising Gas Prices
As gas prices climb due to the operation, Trump acknowledged the worries of many Americans but insisted that these increases are likely temporary. He pointed out that prices recently surpassed $4 a gallon for the first time since 2022.
He attributed these price hikes to Iranian attacks on oil tankers, asserting, “This is proof that Iran cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons.” He expressed confidence that the U.S. is economically prepared to tackle this threat and cited the strength of the American economy under his leadership.
Trump stated, “We’ve transformed this country from a stagnant economy to a booming one, surpassing any previous records in investment and stock market performance.”
He noted that America has become the top oil and gas producer globally, boasting of the vast supplies available thanks to his administration’s policies. “There’s no other country like us,” he said, emphasizing that once the conflict is resolved, prices at the pump will drop swiftly.
Acknowledgment of U.S. Military Efforts
Beginning with praises for the military, Trump recounted the swift capture of Venezuela and reiterated their commitment to successful oil and gas production alongside the oil-rich nation. He remembered the sacrifices of American troops, saying he had honored their memories by visiting Dover Air Force Base.
“We must complete the mission they died for,” he emphasized, reflecting on the importance of honoring their sacrifice.
Maintaining Perspective on the Conflict
Connecting current military actions to historical conflicts, Trump urged Americans to keep this situation in perspective, noting how various wars have lasted longer than the current operation against Iran. He maintained that Iran, once seen as a strong power in the Middle East, is now no longer a threat.
He concluded by asserting that the world is fully aware of the U.S. military’s capabilities, leaving an impression that the U.S. will soon be free from the threats posed by Iranian aggression.
Ending Obama’s Iran Nuclear Deal
Trump also took pride in terminating the Iran nuclear deal initiated by former President Obama, calling it a significant achievement of his presidency. He conveyed how Obama had provided Iran with cash and how that move ended up being a costly mistake.
Reiterating the need for strong action, Trump stated that his administration’s commitments, including military strikes on Iranian facilities, were imperative as Iran continues to pursue nuclear capabilities.
