Angel Reese Transfers to Atlanta Dream
Angel Reese is already making some waves with recent deals.
After transferring from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream on Monday, she shared her excitement on social media. “Angel’s Dream. ATL, what’s up?!” she posted on both Twitter and Instagram, featuring a digitally altered image of herself in a Dream jersey.
Reese’s trade to Atlanta included first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, along with a second-round pick in 2028.
Over her two seasons in the WNBA, Reese has showcased her skills, averaging 14.7 points and an impressive 12.6 rebounds per game last season. Notably, she raised her shooting percentage to 45.8, a significant jump from 39.1 the previous year.
However, her time in Chicago wasn’t without challenges. Last fall, she told the Chicago Tribune that there might be “a need to go in a different direction” if things didn’t align with the Sky.
This comment was likely influenced by her team’s struggles, as the Sky finished with records of 13-27 in her rookie season and a disappointing 10-34 last season.
“I’m very vocal about what I need and what I want,” she mentioned. “I want to be here for my career, but if things don’t work out, I might have to do what’s best for me.”
Reese faced a half-game suspension from the team due to her remarks, but she later apologized both publicly and to her teammates.
The Chicago general manager, Jeff Pagliocca, reflected on the situation, noting, “Angel is one of the fastest rising young talents in this league and has had two very good seasons here in Chicago. We’ve moved forward as a team. She’s a special player, and I have good conversations with Angel every day.”
Now, Reese, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, has two years left on her rookie contract—but this time she will do it in a different city.
